Discontinued Remington 30-06 Accelerator ammunition achieves 4000+ feet per second and 2000+ foot pounds of energy by using a 22 caliber soft point 55 grain bullet housed in a plastic sabot. Think SLAP round adapted for hunting use. Remington originally introduced the Accelerator line in the late 1970's with the idea of expanding a rifles versatility. The thought was that you could use traditional soft points for large game hunting, and use the accelerators for smaller game and varmints, like coyotes.  The accelerator cartridges cultivated a small but loyal following, but failed to see widespread popularity, so eventually the entire line was discontinued. Every now and then, single rounds will pop up on the collectors market, but finding full boxes is pretty uncommon!
